I have been extremely proud to serve as county clerk since 1986, and would be honored to continue working hard for Erie County residents.
I have a master's degree in social sciences from the University at Buffalo and taught American history at West Hertel Middle School for 10 years.
The county budget crisis last year demonstrated that tough times call for tough individuals who have been tried and tested.
I have the experience, creativity and steady hand to guide the clerk's office into the future.
My goals are to provide professional, efficient and courteous services and to continue bringing cost-saving innovations and ideas to the county to keep expenses down while returning much-needed dollars to the county.
With the closing of three of the four auto bureaus, the challenges last year were great, but we met them with solutions that have enhanced the delivery of service to thousands of residents.
Through cooperative partnerships with municipalities, motorists now have the choice of 12 auto bureau locations throughout the county.
At the registrar's office, a new computer system increases efficiencies and paper pistol permits have been replaced with the latest technology to capture images on a plastic card.
The clerk's office is doing more with less staff and less money, but continues to generate millions of dollars in revenue after expenses for the county.
I've also championed the fight against Thruway tolls to keep more money in the pockets of drivers and feel confident that those changes will begin taking place in the near future.
