Bride wears mother's gown

Mr. and Mrs. Derrick R. Sides
Brooke Lauren Spada married Derrick Ray Sides in a late afternoon ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006 at the Asheboro Country Club in Asheboro, N.C. The Rev. John Sides, uncle of the groom, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Laurel and Larry Spada of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of East Amherst. The groom is the son of Dennis and Tina Sides of Sophia, N.C.

The bride was escorted by her father.

She wore her mother's ivory Alencon lace and pearl-on-netting empire bodice gown with an Alencon trimmed train and veil. She carried a bouquet of ivory and muted green hydrangeas, berries, stephanotis, and Gerbera daisies as well as the wedding hanky of her paternal grandmother, Phyllis Spada of Williamsville, and the prayerbook of her maternal grandmother, the late Marjorie Appler of Buffalo. For the reception, the bride wore a strapless, tea-length, ivory satin gown gathered at the back with a champagne sash and bow.

The maid of honor was Emily Bradford, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Amber and Dawn Sides, sisters of the groom, and Caitlin Hurley, Kristen Smith and Jaime Wolfson, friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid and ring bearer was Aubry McMahon, goddaughter of the bride.

The best man was John Hill, friend of the groom. The ushers were Matt Spada, brother of the bride, and Matthew Shelton, Jon McLawhon, Andrew Williams and Roland Trotter, friends of the groom.

A reception was held at the Asheboro Country Club in Asheboro, N.C.

After a honeymoon in Costa Rica, the couple is at home in Asheboro.
