Daemen College announces film series

Daemen College will be showing its film series throughout the year with a selection of films which explore various aspects of people's relation to the natural world. The questions being posed are - "Can nature survive our way of living?" and "Can we survive without nature?"

All films are presented at 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Lounge at Daemen College, 4380 Main St.

 Dec. 4 - Koyaanisquatsi. Visual collage of natural and built environment with a sound tract of music by Philip Glass. Commentated by James Allen.

 Jan. 29 - Dersu Uzala. A Russian government survey team learns about the natural world from a native woodsman. Commentated by Blake Thurman.

 Feb. 26 - The Grapes of Wrath. John Steinbeck's story of the trials faced by Americans fleeing the harsh natural conditions of the dust bowl. Commentated by William Predmore.

 March 26 - Mindwalk. A conversation between a poet, a scientist, and a politician about the condition of the natural world. Set against the background of Mont-Saint-Michel. Commentated by Brent Robbins.
