Sweet Home High School students, named AP scholars

In recognition of their exceptional achievement on college level advanced placement examinations held last May, the College Board has named 45 Sweet Home High School students and graduates AP Scholars.

The distinction, which has several levels of achievement based on success on a number of year-long courses and exams taken, was given to only about 18 percent of the more than 1.3 million students who took the AP examinations nationwide in May 2006.

AP Exams are taken by students each May after completing challenging college-level courses at their high school. They are graded on a five-point scale with five being the highest score. Most of the nation's colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement or both for grades of three or higher.

The College Board, is a not-for-profit educational association that supports academic preparation and transition to higher education.
