Announcements The Jewish Community Book Fair celebrates its 40th anniversary Nov. 1-12 and 19 at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo, Benderson Family Building, 2640 N. Forest Road, Getzville. Events include a special anniversary party, a variety of authors and performing artists, and the sale of a wide selection of Jewish-themed books. Opening night features Rabbi Lawrence Kushner at 8 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 1, who will discuss his new book, "Kabbalah: A Love Story." For more information on the event, call 688-4114, Ext. 337. Due to the state of emergency in North Tonawanda and the closing of all city parks, the North Tonawanda History Museum's "Haunted Gardens on the EEEErie Canal" has been canceled for Friday, Oct. 27. All students who were to participate in the three-week event are requested to contact the museum individually to obtain community service credit for the time spent in preparation. "The Other Side," with filmmaker Bill Brown, will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, 341 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. The film is about U.S. and Mexican immigration issues. Brown is a filmmaker from the "Paris of the Plains," Lubbock, Texas. He has made several short experimental documentaries about the dusty corners of the North American landscape. Tickets are $5 general, $4 for Squeaky Wheel members.
