'If I Were a Rich Man'

The Aurora Players will bring Tevye the milkman and "Fiddler on the Roof " to life beginning Friday, Oct. 27, at the Roycroft Pavilion in Hamlin Park on South Grove Street, East Aurora.

The musical, based on the short story by Sholom Aleichem, is set in 1905 Czarist Russia, a time of growing anti-Semitic violence. The show's universal themes: faith, tradition, family, community and love - continue to resonate powerfully today with audiences all over the world.

"Fiddler on the Roof " includes memorable songs such as "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Do You Love Me," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Far From the Home I Love."

The show is directed by Mike Breen, who has directed many shows with The Aurora Players. Nancy Seel is the music director, and Cynthia Baumgartner is the choreography.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 27 through Nov. 12. On Saturday, Nov. 4, there will be two performances at 2:30 and 8 p.m. For tickets, call 687-6727.
