Halloween show set at planetarium

The planetarium at Williamsville North High School, 1595 Hopkins Road, will be showing a Halloween Show at 6 and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30. The show features Holly, a student witch, and Jack, a pumpkin comedian, who explore Halloween history and traditions, the fall and winter constellations and the phases of the moon. Participants help Holly with her spells by singing along. This show is intended for early elementary age students.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, from after school to sunset, Mercury will be visible as it passes directly in front of the sun as viewed from Earth. Special telescopes with solar filters will be set up outside the planetarium for observations of the disc of Mercury and any other visible solar features. Anyone interested is invited to stop in and use a telescope. This event is weather permitting.
