Free self-defense classes offered at WNY Karate Center

Cvetkovski
Due to the recent tragic event on the bike path in Clarence, Jim Cvetkovski, master instructor at WNY Karate Center, is offering one free month of karate and self-defense classes to women and young ladies. A free uniform is included in the offer.

"Self-defense and personal safety are our priorities," Cvetkovski said.

For more information and to schedule the first class, call 631-5065. Both day and evenings classes are available at the center, 4209 Transit Road. This offer is valid through October.

Master Cvetkovski and his staff are also running five and six-week programs through Williamsville Community Education and Clarence Continuing Education after-school programs.

"One hundred percent of the fee for the course goes directly to the community education program. We are donating our time and supplies necessary to run the program as part of our commitment to helping the children," Cvetkovski said.

Master Cvetkovski is the owner of WNY Karate Center, which opened in 1993. He has more than 35 years experience in martial arts and has achieved his seventh degree black belt (master instructor) in Isshin-Ryu Karate; his fifth degree black belt (master instructor) in Kenpo Karate; his fifth degree black belt (master instructor) in Tae Kwon-Do and first degree black belt in Kenpo Jui-Jitsu.

He was rated as the number one competitor in self defense in the Northeast by the National Black Belt League in 1992 and was the Can-Am Isshin-Ryu Karate Champion that same year. Master Cvetkovski was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Sport Karate International and the East Coast Karate Organization in 2003 for "his contribution, dedication and commitment to the martial arts, the community and his students."

WNY Karate is located at the corner of Transit Road and Main Street, behind TJ Maxx in Transitown Plaza. For more information visit www.wnykarate.com.
