Canisius College to host 'Pack the KAC' Oct. 13

Canisius College will host Pack the KAC to celebrate the beginning of the 2006-07 season for the men and women's basketball teams, Friday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center.

Admission is free, and the event serves as the cap to an evening that features the Golden Griffin men's soccer team's home contest against league rival Niagara at 7 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex. Fans are encouraged to head over to the Koessler Center following the soccer game against the Purple Eagles, where free pizza will be served from 9 to 10 p.m.

The event will take place in the Patrick Lee Gymnasium, adjacent to the Koessler Center Arena, and will be an opportunity for fans to meet the teams and coaches rather than view them on the court. Men's coach Tom Parrotta and women's coach Terry Zeh will emcee the event and introduce the entire men and women's teams just after midnight.

A DJ will provide music, and the evening will feature numerous contests and promotions, including the annual chicken wing eating contest, a dance contest, Canisius College trivia, and random drawings for prizes. Fans will also be treated to performances by the G-Squad, Dance Griffs and cheerleaders.

Canisius College Student Television will be on hand to conduct interviews with players and coaches, which they will air on their station after the event.

For fans wishing to see the men's team in action, their entire practice in the Koessler Center Saturday, Oct. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. will be open to the public.

Both the men and women's programs open their seasons in a home doubleheader against the University at Buffalo Friday, Nov. 10. The women's game will tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
