Joyce S. Odien, 61, of Williamsville, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in Hospice Buffalo.
Born Joyce Masi in Buffalo, she received a bachelor's degree in education from Rosary Hill College in 1966 and a master's degree in education from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1971.
Mrs. Odien taught from 1966 to 2000 at Willow Ridge Elementary School in the Sweet Home School District, Depew Middle School, and Maplemere Elementary School in Williamsville.
Mrs. Odien belonged to the Canisius College Scholarship Association, Sweet Home Retired Teacher Association, an eucharistic minister at St. Gregory the Great, and former Board of Trustee of Mt. St. Mary's Academy, and the UB women's club.
She was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her husband of 381/2 years Richard L.; a daughter, Jennifer and a son, Marc.
Prayers were offered Saturday, Oct. 7 in the Perna-Pellegrino Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial by her brother in-law, Rev. Terry M., from St. Gregory the Great Church.
