Wedding, renewal vows repeated at same church

Barbara and John Schrader of Lancaster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends on Friday Aug. 11, 2006 at The Lodge in Elma, the same place they held their wedding breakfast and reception some 50 years earlier.

John A. Schrader married Barbara A. Weeks on Aug. 25, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in Lancaster. The couple shared in a renewing of vows at the church on Friday Aug. 25, 2006.

John taught at St. Mary's Diocesan High School for the 1955-56 school year before going on to serve in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps for three years. He retired in 1988 from the U.S. Treasury Department after 28 years as a criminal investigator.

Barbara retired in 2000 from Key Bank where she was employed as a systems analyst. She subsequently worked at St. Mary's Elementary School as an administrative assistant.

The couple enjoys reading, traveling, and boating on the Erie Canal. They have five children and six grandchildren.
