Violinist Robert McDuffie
Guest conductor Andreas Delfs will lead violinist Robert McDuffie and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in "Pictures at an Exhibition," for two performances Friday and Saturday.

The programs will begin with Russian Romantic Dimitry Kabalevsky's "Overture to Colas Breugnon." Then the BPO welcomes violinist extraordinaire McDuffie who will perform the dashing and tantalizing Violin Concerto by Hollywood composer Mikls Rzsa. The programs will conclude with Maurice Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition."

Performances will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Kleinhans Music Hall, 71 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. For tickets, call the BPO box office at 885-5000, or visit www.tickets.com or www.bpo.org.

Andreas Delfs is in his ninth season as music director of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO). He continues to garner national and international accolades through the MSO national radio series and guest conducting appearances in the United States and abroad. Delfs' continuing commitment to contemporary music is a distinguishing point in his career.

Robert McDuffie has appeared as soloist with most of the major orchestras of the world. This season, in addition to orchestral and recital appearances across the country, he will perform the Tchaikovsky and Bruch Violin Concertos with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra in Germany and in 26 cities in the United States.

In 2008, he will premiere "The American Four Seasons," a new work by Philip Glass, and will tour Europe and the United States, pairing it with the Vivaldi "Four Seasons." He will record both works for Telarc International.
