Davis wrong about economy In his letter in The Bee on Sept. 13, Jack Davis artlessly states outdated and distorted theories of the economic woes of Western New York that prove he does not know what he is talking about. Quoting an article from the New York Times about hourly wages and then applying that national information to our locality is hogwash. Noted economists Steve Forbes and Ron Cavuto, to name but two respected authorities, cited statistics such as the current un- employment rate of 4.4 percent, which is the lowest in four decades. Other clear facts and statistics, which were on CNBC, as well as C-SPAN, and printed in the Wall Street Journal prove the economy is great nationwide. Democrat (Sheldon) Silver's controlled New York Assembly hampers Western New York with high taxes that force companies to locate elsewhere. Reynolds knows New York taxes must be lowered for us to catch up to the rest of the nation. He works tirelessly to promote family tax relief at the federal level. Reynolds knows his diligence for pro-growth tax relief will create the environment for companies to thrive and provide good jobs locally. Reynolds also realizes that tariffs and fees that Mr. Davis promotes are just words for increasing taxes for the working families and take their hard-earned salaries from their pockets. Bashing Rep. Reynolds personally with slipshod distortions of facts should impress no one. Rep. Tom Reynolds has a history of hard work for Western New York and a distinguished public record. You have no record at all Mr. Davis except collecting the fruits of the laborers you personally employ and trying to purchase a seat in Congress. Not the way to go, Mr. Davis. Dr. Marian M.
