Marissa Schineller, vice president of list management

Marissa Schineller, 27, formerly of Amherst, vice president of list management at Teramedia Corp., an Orlando-based data service provider, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at her home in Coral Springs, Fla.

Born in New York, Ms. Schineller grew up in Amherst and graduated from Amherst Central High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in international economics and management information systems, magna cum laude, from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.

Ms. Schineller, who was known for her drive and ambition as much as for her effervescent, outgoing personality, began her career at IBM, overseeing multiple projects for Fortune 500 companies including Tiffany & Co., Lehman Brothers, and Prudential Insurance. Possessing an unusual combination of analytical, management, and technical skills and creative abilities, she rose to the rank of vice president at Teramedia in just two years.

"Marissa was a bright light within our company, both personally and professionally," said Scott Hardigree, chief marketing officer at Teramedia. "Everyone loved her."

Ms. Schineller is survived by her mother, Linda M.; a fiancé, Joseph, and a sister, Amelia.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 26 from First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may made to the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (712 Main Street, Buffalo, N.Y. 14202) for the Marissa Schineller Memorial Scholarship, which will endow a scholarship at Amherst Central High School. The scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing math and science, two areas in which Ms. Schineller excelled.

Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
