Intoxicated man facing felony charges for 'crashing' wedding on Saturday

A man with severe hand lacerations, also described as intoxicated and acting irrationally, was treated at Erie County Medical Center and charged by Amherst police.

Christopher C. Martin, 23, of Buffalo reportedly arrived at an acquaintance's wedding reception at the Getzville Fire Hall around 8 p.m. Sept. 23.

The suspect was refused entry into the reception and in response, reportedly punched out a window on the west side of the fire hall, severely lacerating his right hand.

Firefighters at the hall attempted to administer first aid, but Martin refused treatment. He

then approached a vehicle, which was occupied by a driver, and allegedly tried to steal the vehicle. Unable to gain access, he reportedly began punching the window, but was unsuccessful in breaking the glass.

The driver then put the vehicle in reverse, causing Martin to fall from the running board where he had been standing.

It was reported by witnesses that Martin left the wedding reception and went to the Crow's Nest at 315 Campbell Blvd. While at the bar he reportedly threw bar stools and bottles at patrons. He allegedly hit an individual in the head with his elbow. An officer arrived at the scene,

and Martin reportedly threw a bottle in the direction of the officer. After being warned, Martin complied when ordered to the ground.

Twin City Ambulance transported the suspect to ECMC for treatment.

Martin is facing charges of second-degree, D-felony attempted robbery and third-degree, E-felony criminal mischief.

Also over the weekend, a burglary was reported at Christ the King Church, 30 Lamarck Drive. Between 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24 $1,360 in cash was taken from the living quarters and the office.
