The smell of cabbage will fill the air when the third annual Cabbage Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, on the grounds of the Ransomville Fire Company.
The Town of Porter, the Ransomville Business and Professional Association and the Lower Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce are hosting this year's festival.
The Cabbage Festival will feature an array of cabbage-inspired dishes, a farmer's market, crafts, chainsaw art, a recipe contest and cabbage toss competition.
Country Classics will provide entertainment, and children will be able to enjoy free pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, pony rides and a fun run. The Niagara River Anglers Association will hold a Fish Pond.
A highlight of the event is the Cabbage Leaf Fashion Show for adults and children. All outfits are made out of cabbage leaves courtesy of Peter Baker Farms. The show begins at 3 p.m.
The Ransomville Fire Company is located on Route 93 near Ransomville Road. Visit www.northofthefalls.com for more information and a complete schedule of events.
