Church to host 'A Night at the Oscars'
by JILL SCHMELZER Reporter

Lights. Camera. Action.

St. Gregory the Great's eighth annual dinner auction will give attendees the chance to live like a star.

"A Night at the Oscars" will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the church, 250 St. Gregory Court. Ticket holders will walk down the red carpet and have the opportunity to participate in more than 700 silent auctions and 25 live auctions.

The sold out event will host 716 people. The highest bidders will win tickets to the U.S. Golf Open and popular talk shows starring Jay Leno, David Letterman, Martha Stewart and Ellen DeGeneres.

All proceeds will be split between the church and the school.

The event will serve cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and food prepared by Oliver's Restaurant.

The Rev. Joe Gatto has joined the church as its new pastor.

Mary Beth and Jim Basil co-chaired the event with Paul and Colleen Seminara. Brad and Meegan Stamm and John and Nancy Rehak also chaired the committee.

"Three out of the four chair couples attended St. Gregory's. We now send our children there," Mary Beth Basil said. "It's a great way to help out the school and the parish."

For more information or to donate to the school or church, call the auction office at 688-5678, ext 337.
