Fumerelle named Coach of the Week Williamsville East coach Henry Fumerelle High School has been named Buffalo Bills High School Football Coach of the Week for the second weekend of the 2006 season (Sept. 9-10). On Saturday, Sept. 9, East defeated Sweet Home, 21-14. In the opening quarter, Sweet Home scored first on a 70 yard pass, however, the Flames scored 14 unanswered points. During the third quarter, Sweet Home tied the game at 14-14 but the Flames sealed the victory in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run from Zach Miller. This is the tenth consecutive year that the Bills have sponsored the Coach of the Week program. Each week during the 11-week high school football season, a committee appointed by the Bills selects a head football coach as Coach of the Week. The honoree receives a framed certificate signed by Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron, General Manager/Football Operations Marv Levy and NFLCommissioner Roger Goodell, plus a Coach of the Week cap and $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Buffalo Bills Youth Foundation. Recognition of the winning coach will be shown on the Bills' official Web site at www.buffalobills. com. At the end of the season, one of the weekly award winners will be named Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $1,000 donation to the school's football program. All of the 2006 Coach of the Week winners will be honored at the Buffalo Bills/Miami Dolphins game on Dec. 17. All head football coaches in Western New York are eligible, regardless of their school's division or affiliation. In other East football news, Zach Miller was named one of Class A's offensive players of the week and Brad Demo was selected as one of Section VI's top defensive performers for Week Two. |
