North fares well at opening invite

The Williamsville North cross country teams opened the 2006 season Saturday at the Byron Bergen Invitational at Byron Bergen High School.

The Spartan boys team captured third place in a very strong field that included Fairport and Pittsford-Mendon High Schools. Seniors Jon Adler and Chris Deptula finished seventh (11:33) and 13th (17:51). Junior Geoff Hurley ran a very

strong race and finished 15th (17:57). Senior Dave Johnson finished 18th (18:09) and sophomore Mike Thielman finished fifth for North in 32nd (19:03).

Other North runners included Miah Hildreth (19:31), Ryan Perry (21:06), Pat Steadman (20:46), Joe Sietz (20:47), Tom Calandra (21:32), Robert Golightly (21:36), and Max Eisenbaum (21:58).

The Spartans girls team finished in 11th place.

Sophomore Kim Berus finished 54th in 23:57. Junior Kayla Raybuck finished 57th in 24:08. Freshman Natalie Worley finished 87th in 27:08 and Freshman Jessica Leising finished 88th in 27:11. Junior Dawn Hu finished 93rd in 28:22.

Other North girls finishers included Stephanie Kranz (29:20) 100th , Bailey Lamison (29:23) 101st, and Sarah Fierle (34:05) 109th.
