'Garbage doctor' leaves waste on Sheridan Drive

Thursday, Aug. 31

+ A Capen Boulevard resident reported that a "wad of something" had been thrown on the roof and was burning. The evidence was tagged and considered linked to arson.

 A St. Rita's Lane resident found an intoxicated person lying in bushes at the end of the street. The drunken student was taken back to the University at Buffalo campus.

 A Windermere Boulevard resident complained that there were 10 teenagers hanging from tree branches near the playground and wanted them removed before the trees were damaged.

 A Transit Road restaurant employee reported that a woman, in a blue Jeep, with children in the vehicle, was drinking a wine cooler when she came through the drive-through.

 Criminal mischief was reported on Niagara Falls Boulevard when a woman heard the rear window of her sport utility vehicle explode. She called police to go through the vehicle.

Friday, Sept. 1

 An accident was reported on Hopkins Road in which a man said he had to chase down the elderly women involved to get them to stop after hitting his vehicle.

 Suspicious people with a vehicle were reported on Yorktown Road. A man and woman were in the vehicle taking videos of passing cars with a video recorder. They then removed items from the trunk and went into the park, the complainant said. Police learned they were aspiring artists making a home video.

 A handicapped sticker was taken from a woman's car while it was parked in a Main Street parking lot.

 A Vine Lane resident was suspicious of a man wearing a hard hat and walking around in the back yard with a ladder. Police reported that he was a Time Warner Cable repairman.

 Youths with lighters were causing a problem at the playground on Sweet Home Road. A second report on Sweet Home Road complained of 15 to 20 youths taking down signs in the high school parking lot and construction area.

Saturday, Sept. 2

 A man was hit on the head with the trunk of a car on Maple Road.

 A motorist reported seeing a cat tied to a string on the side of Millersport Highway near New Road. Police said it was a raccoon and had it picked up.

 A man, dressed in hospital scrubs, surgical gloves and a mask, reportedly dumped a load of garbage into the cart corral of a store on Sheridan Drive. He was driving a newer model silver minivan. Part of a refrigerator and rotten food were found in the bag.

 A mysterious blue powder was found spread in the breezeway of a Capen Boulevard home.

 A large raccoon was reported for sitting on a storm sewer grate on Darwin Drive. The complainant thought it appeared sick.

Sunday, Sept. 3

 A Lamarck Drive resident complained that his son's ex-girlfriend took out a lot of library books under his daughter's name and was refusing to take them back.

 A town resident is worried that a man was casing the house. The complaint was made after the suspect was allowed into the house for telling the homeowners he lived there 20 years before. The man was given a tour and then left in a Jeep with a female and child.

 A vehicle reportedly drove through a condo lot on Old Meadow, onto the golf course, across the fourth and fifth fairways and back onto the road by the pool area. No damage was reported.

 A pizza delivery person's car was reportedly hit with a broomstick while the driver was making a delivery on Foxfire Drive. The male suspect came from a few houses away to make the hit.

 Police advised two girls walking on a ramp for Interstate 290. They told police they are new UB students walking back to campus and thought they were on Maple Road.

 A motorist was broken down in the driving lane of Interstate 290 after spinning out. Police reported that the car moved when the emergency brake was disengaged.

 A South Union Road resident called police because the new neighbor's dog had jumped on the complainant's car, and he wanted an officer to see the paw prints. Police reported there were two paw prints on the car, and advised the man that it was a civil matter.

Monday, Sept. 4

 Criminal mischief was reported on Main Street when the complainant said two men threw something at a business. It was suspected to be coffee.

 An alarm was going off at a Nature Cove Court residence. The babysitter had been left with the old code to the alarm.

 Harassment was reported on Harlem Road after the complainant was punched in the face by her boyfriend's wife.

 A woman who was talking on her cell phone while driving a maroon Grand Am on Millersport Highway reportedly gave the complainant the finger after almost sideswiping the complainant's vehicle. The woman also had two young children in the car.

 A person reported missing from a facility on Le Brun Road was never missing but in a different bed.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

 A Greengage Court resident complained that a group of neighborhood youths took down a section of fence to make a cut-through.

 A man with a mustache, wearing blue pants, a plaid shirt and cowboy boots, who appeared to be Bucky Phillips, was reported walking toward the creek on Mill Street.

 A group of four youths, ages 12-14, were behind a barn on Sheridan Drive throwing rocks at cars while firemen were practicing extraction.

 A Palmdale Drive resident told police she put a laptop bag down to put her child in the car and then left the laptop in the parking lot.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

 A complaint was made that four males were going through clothing that was left outside in a lot on Transit Road.

 Gangs of kids from high schools were reported on Main Street, Farber Lane and Hopkins Road.

 A man with a cigar was going through all the laundry in a Main Street laundromat.

Thursday, Sept. 9

 A person was charged with larceny on Main Street after saying they walked into the store with the product in question. Video surveillance showed the suspect had nothing when they walked in.

 A Sedgemoor Court resident reported an unknown man was on the side of the house. It was her neighbor who was inspecting his siding.

 Four adults on bikes collided on Tonawanda Creek Road. Injuries to all involved were reported.

 On Jeffrey Drive, a resident reported someone took the hose from his pool and replaced it with another one that wasn't as long.

 A Hillcrest Drive resident complained that an 18-inch gnome sitting on a frog was taken. They requested notification if the gnome was located.
