Williamsville The Village Board looked at a few options to replace the building inspector and decided splitting his duties between Department of Public Works Crew Chief Michael Parker and the village engineers, CRA Company, would be the best solution. The engineering company receives $30,000 annually for its services and will hold regular office hours at Village Hall, 5565 Main St., according to village officials. CRA company will perform site plan and planning reviews, as well as all structural and on-site inspections, according to village officials. Parker will perform an extension of his DPW duties, including taking over the sanitary sewer and water line inspections. He will also issue fence and deck permits. "The trustees proposed it (the new responsibilities)," said Parker. "I am assuming we will evaluate it at about six months and see how it is going." The board looked into asking the Town of Amherst to take over the inspections in the village, but decided it wasn't cost-efficient, officials said. e-mail: JSchmelzer@beenews.com |
