Clearfield Branch resumes Sunday hours

Through the Williamsville Community Education, Sunday library hours return at Amherst's Public Library's Clearfield Branch from 1 to 5 p.m. beginning Sept. 24.

The service began 20 years ago and has served as a model program for other communities. The Sunday library service at Clearfield has received special recognition from Erie County legislators, the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, as well as from the New York Association for Continuing Education.

Sunday hours are made possible by volunteers from the high schools and PTA members in the Williamsville District.

"The school district, as well as the PTA groups, support this community school partnership to provide an opportunity for residents of the school district to take advantage of this valuable resource during a time when the library is usually closed," Mary F. Bobinski, director of the Amherst Library System, said.
