The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off its 2006-2007 season with internationally acclaimed violinist Sarah Chang in her BPO debut at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.
Chang is recognized the world over as one of classical music's most captivating and gifted performers. She has appeared in the music capitals of Asia, Europe and the Americas, and collaborated with most major orchestras. She has appeared on numerous television and radio programs throughout Europe, North America and the Far East.
Opening night will feature three revered masterworks with an Italian touch.
BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta will conduct the orchestra in Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" featuring Chang, Tchaikovsky's "Francesca da Rimini," based on the saga from Dante's "Inferno," and Respighi's "Pines of Rome," a tribute to the glory of the Eternal City.
Tickets range from $35 to $75. An opening night gala package is available and includes dinner and the concert. The gala begins at 4:30 p.m. For tickets, call 885-5000.
