'Evening in the Village' offers music, shopping on Main Street "An Evening in the Village" will once again feature the businesses along Main Street in the Village of Williamsville from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Blues beats and Elvis music will be heard as headliners Patrick Johnson, impersonating the "King of Rock and Roll," and Big City Thrill rock the steps of Town Hall. Live music will also fill the air up and down the street, with other performances by Roar 84 outside Art Nouveau Salon and Fofa Brazil Jeans, 5732 Main St., at North Ellicott Street. For the fourth consecutive year, a $500 Village of Williamsville shopping spree will be given to one of the evening's participants. More than 60 businesses will be involved in the night's events, as well as the Williamsville Fire Department, which will give "Jaws of Life" demonstrations and tours of the building. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the fire department. Businesses will offer in-store specials, food and wine tastings. Two block party tents will be set up, one on Rock Street, which will be closed to vehicle traffic, and the other will be next to the village library. Those participating in the Walk the Villages event can use this as an opportunity to have their cards stamped. Free trolley rides will be provided during the event. SS. Peter and Paul Church, 5480 Main St., will host Septemberfest the same day. There will be rides, a beer tent and more live music. Event sponsors include First Niagara, Beach Tuyn Funeral Home, Alexandra, Hunt, Robataille Real Estate, Era, Credex America Inc, Munroe Chiropractic, Moses Group, Key Bank, First Amherst Development Group, Capello and Bee Group Newspapers. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit w w w. w i l l v i l l . c o m . |
