Ernst W. Scheeder, business owner, race car driver Ernst W. Scheeder, 73, of Waterloo, formerly of Williamsville, a business owner and race car driver, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, while visiting a friend in Camillus, near Syracuse. Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Burgard Vocational High School, then served in the Marines during the Korean War. Mr. Scheeder resided on South Ellicott St. in the village of Williamsville, and formerly on Hopkins Road. His children graduated from Williamsville South High School. Mr. Scheeder was owner and operator of Omni Service, a sales and service company for microscopes. He moved the company to Waterloo 10 years ago. Mr. Scheeder was a well-known race car driver in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He won trophies at the Grand Prix and other races at Watkins Glen and at tracks in Southern Ontario and the Northeast. He was later certified as an official race starter at the Glen. He was also a former partner at Checkpoint Foreign Car Sales and Service. He was a former member of the Williamsville Historical Society. Mr. Scheeder is survived by a son, E. Clark; two daughters, Elizabeth Rook Golze and Jennifer Rook Hendricks; a sister, Mary C.; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Aug. 11 in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Arrangements were made by Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home. |
