Additional charges pending in fatal accident A man who caused a fatal motor accident has been charged with driving under the influence of a drug and reckless operation of a vehicle. Amherst police are continuing to investigate an accident that took place at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 15 on Eggert Road. Capt. Patrick McKenna said additional charges to Robert L. Endler, 30, are pending. A Williamsville resident, Endler reportedly drove his vehicle into the back of a vehicle operated by Tina McCarthy, 43, of Buffalo. She died as a result of the impact. Two other drivers were injured in the crash. Vincent Priemogenito, 47, of Buffalo was treated for shock and taken to Kenmore Mercy. He was the boyfriend of McCarthy and was driving the car in front of her. Also, Joan Grandoni, 68, of Kenmore was treated at Kenmore Mercy for hip pain. All three vehicles were stopped at a red light at the corner of Eggert Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard when Endler struck McCarthy's car which started the chain reaction. Witnesses have reported Endler was driving at a high rate of speed. As of press time he remained in ECMC where he was being treated for chest injuries. McKenna said he will be arraigned when released from the hospital. Amherst police are still testing the cars and conducting interviews from witnesses to determine if any additional charges will be pressed. |
