Lewiston Jazz Festival set to jam
The Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival enters its fifth annual celebration as it welcomes 170 jazz musicians to its village streets, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 25-27.
The major musical performances, sponsored by the New York Power Authority, will take place Friday and Saturday night. Artpark will present The Rippingtons at p.m. Friday. For tickets, call the box office 754-4375 or visit www.artpark.net. This is the only performance that has an admission f ee.
On Saturday night, Center Street will groove with Heather Bambrick and her quintet, winner of the 2004 Canadian National Jazz Award for Vocalist of the Year.
Beside the headliners, groups will perform all day to keep Lewiston jumping. A complete listing of performers is available at www.lewistonjazz.com.
New this year, the festival will showcase local high school and college jazz per formers.
Not only will ears be pampered with music, but the jazz festival will also satisfy festival-goer's hunger with delicious food, and their eyes with the sight of culinary delights, a vintage car exhibition and an antique show.
The majority of restaurants participating in the festival are from the Village of Lewiston and the surrounding area.
The vintage car show will take place from noon to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The cars will be displayed along Center Street.
Antique lovers will be able to browse the antique show along Center Street. The show features rare finds and collectibles. The show runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
