The Amherst Youth Board has spaces available for the after school childcare program at the Harlem Road Community Center for children attending the Amherst Central School District.

"The Amherst Youth Board offers quality, affordable after school childcare for young people ages 5-11," Janice Zapfel, youth center director, said. "Children are encouraged to develop new skills in an atmosphere of fun and fair play."

Special weekly activities include cooking, games, exercise and group activities. Help with homework is provided daily.

The program operates until 6 p.m. MondayFriday and transportation is provided from the child's school. Half-day service is also provided.

Fees are based on a sliding scale.

Applications are available online at www.amherst.ny.us/ pdf/youth/afterschool.pdf or by calling 631-7215.

Applications are currently being accepted at the Youth Board office, 4255 Harlem Road, one block south of Main Street.
