Rita Georges of Williamsville has been awarded the E. Lester Levine Scholarship from Empire State College. She is originally from Lebanon and is a self-employed hairdresser, pursuing a degree in international studies.

Jason Desiderio of Amherst is a recipient of the Foundation Freshman Award at Fredonia College. It is a $3,000 scholarship awarded to a freshman with a high school average of 91 or higher and scored at least a 1250 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT. He is also accepted into the honors program, which carries an additional $500 award.

Jeremy R. Lehning of Williamsville graduated from Erie Community College and Erie County Central Police Services Public Safety Training Academy's first Pre-Employment Police Basic Training class. Graduation was held July 18 in Gleasner Hall at ECC's North Campus, 6205 Main St., Williamsville.
