Ellen J. Calnan, 68, of Williamsville, a retired special education teacher for Orleans/Niagara BOCES, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Gates Circle.

Born in Williamsville, she graduated from Williamsville High School and

received a master's degree in education from Buffalo State College.

Miss Calnan taught special education children at Orleans/Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services. She was a member of New York State United Teachers Retired Teachers Association.

Miss Calnan volunteered at Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and visited nursing homes with her registered therapy dog, Molly.

Prayers were said Friday, Aug. 4 at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from SS. Peter & Paul Church.
