WWII vets celebrate 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schmidt

Eugene and Margaret Schmidt of West Seneca celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration that was held in their honor on July 2, 2006.

Eugene Schmidt married the former Margaret Dear on July 25, 1946 in Miami, Fla. They are both World War II veterans and both graduated from Syracuse University.

Eugene is a retired teacher from the West Seneca School District.

Margaret is a retired school nurse from the West Seneca School District.

The couple has four children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
