I wish we would get rid of Kindel, Ward and McLaughlin and then see what we can do to straighten out this Amherst Town B o a rd . .Whenever Satish Mohan finds himself in one of his many, many jams, he acts in the same shoot-from-the-hip fashion that got him into the jam. He shoots from the hip and asks questions later, like he unnecessarily delayed payments of the town's utility bills and unnecessarily delayed delivery to town employees of their weekly paychecks. He said he would pay personally any late fees, whether for utility bills or for town employees' late mortgage fees. Now it looks like Satish has been conducting a home improvement/ construction consultation business for the last 20 years. Let's see if Satish comes clean and pays the town the fees he owes for building permits. .Come on, Satish supporters, call in and voice your opinion. It's obvious to me that this column is printing too much slander against Satish. Is this all they are receiving? We voted him in to clean up and cut back and run our town the way it should be. It is disgraceful the way Satish is being treated, and that includes media coverage. Let's grow up and act like civilized adults. Good job, Satish! .I found it amusing reading Bee Heard last week where someone stated they don't give any credence to anyone who hides their identity, but then they don't leave their name. How ironic is that? Also, the caller who said Dr. Mohan won by a landslide; they should check the results with the Amherst Town Clerk, because it was far from a landslide. Keep Bee Heard; it's one of the best sources of amusement other than the police blotter! .I think it's time for the town supervisor to stop the rhetoric and talking in generalities and tell the townspeople exactly what programs he wants cut - what programs in the police department, what services from the highway department and recreation department. To put it on the heads of the different departments is not right; he should tell us what he wants cut - period. .To the caller who was concerned about the future of Amherst and said the supervisor has an obligation to listen to the taxpayers, that is exactly what he is doing! It is the town board and the town workers with their excessive benefits that aren't listening. It's about time someone steps on the toes of the town board members who have too long coddled town workers and developers and consequently kept taxes increasing. .As a longtime Williamsville resident, I am quite displeased with Satish Mohan. I am not a town employee, but I am a taxpaying citizen. I feel for all town employees who are doing their jobs well and have served Amherst well for many years. I cannot imagine what they are going through; they have to worry if they will still have their jobs tomorrow or not. Thank you to all town employees, and I hope Satish Mohan will come to his senses and stop threatening your jobs and security. Amherst would be unlivable without you all doing your jobs and serving the community. .Dr. Mohan, did you see the results of The Amherst Bee poll where the majority of people responded saying you should resign? I guess your so-called mandate is expired. .Bill Kindel's actions are becoming more and more outrageous. He just can't accept the fact that Satish Mohan is doing exactly what the vast majority of taxpayers in Amherst voted him to do. The shortfall of $4 million is the result of practices of which he was part and parcel of. Maybe your past is catching up with you, Bill. .I moved to Amherst, as well as many businesses moved to Amherst, for excellent services provided by the town. It used to be the place to be. Now Mohan and his group want to lower services by reducing costs. I did not vote for him or his alleged mandate. One caller spoke of the landslide vote Mohan won by. Please print the actual voting results again to remind residents that Mohan's win was not overwhelming, as is a mandate or a landslide. His tally certainly doesn't reflect the majority of town residents, only the few of the voters who actually voted for him. .After being a resident in Amherst for many years, I want to commend Satish Mohan for not hiring any more Amherst Police officers. We have enough officers in this town, and I think it's just another ploy by the Amherst Police to hire more family and friends. .It's strange that the town engineer would say that the last storm overwhelmed the town's storm drainage system and that is was only meant to hold a 10-year storm, when all the retention ponds are built to hold a 25-year storm before they even go into the storm drain system. It just totally failed. The engineer's statement that all streets were cleared, except six, by 10:30 Friday morning is completely inaccurate; I was living in it and there was flooding extensively at that point. .What has happened to our lovely town? People were civil, amenities were wonderful, services were enviable. Now we have only angry voices, confrontation and probably plummeting property values as a result. .You may think Satish Mohan is helping, but did you know that more than 35,000 seniors in Amherst alone will be affected by his cuts? Services will be cut and the safety of our neighborhood will be in jeopardy. .The taxpayers in this town seem to want everything both ways - they want to cut taxes and they claim they don't care (as I've read in Bee Heard) that it affects services in this town, like the police department. Well, I hope these people get what they are asking for and don't complain when people call and report such nonsense and waste our officers' time like what is reported in the blotter every week, such as arguments over loud recliners and watermelons on people's roofs. When the police don't respond to those anymore, and when the highway department doesn't pick up leaves in a timely fashion, I don't want to hear one complaint from anyone, because they are the people who voted for Satish and they are going to get exactly what they voted for! .We've been complaining about the rats for about two years. Tonawanda just received their totes. When are we in Amherst going to get totes? When we are overrun with rats? It's time the town opens its eyes. |
