     The Williamsville North varsity softball team finished the 2006 season with a 14-10 overall record and an 8-6 division record to finish in third place in ECIC Division I.

Clarence grad Kevyn Adams hoists Stanley Cup with 'Canes
     With a couple of kisses to North American professional sports' oldest championship trophy, Clarence graduate Kevyn Adams avenged prior disappointment by claiming a piece of hockey lore as a member of the 2006 Stanley Cup-winning Carolina Hurricanes.

Red Sox girls U-11 down Angels, 10-1
     The previous games between the Angels and the Red Sox had been nail-biters and the Angels were praying that this meeting would give them their first victory in the field. (The tenacious Angels U-11 team had netted one win on a forfeit with the Yankees.)

Niagara girls lax camp coming
     The ninth annual Niagara Girls Lacrosse Camp, under the direction of Amherst Central girls lacrosse coach Janet Battaglia, will be held at Amherst Central High School, 4301 Main St., this summer from July 17 to 20.

     GOLDEN CAGERS - Team Fixed Income, a 75 and over basketball team, recently won the 3-on-3 half-court tournament at the Empire State Senior Games, held in Cortland. The win qualified the team for participation in next summer's National Senior Games, which will be held in Louisville, Ky. Members of Fixed Income are, from left: Gene Mruk (Cheektowaga), coach Gordon Schultz (Williamsville), Ken McClune, Bill Wellsby (Orchard Park) and Charly Binaxas.

Red Devils soccer takes second at U-13 tourney
     Father's Day weekend was a perfect time for the Amherst Red Devils to entertain family and friends in the 2006 Odenbach Cup held in West Seneca. The squad scored a second place showing in the U-13B division, besting all but their last opponent.

Major Rangers, Angels defeat Diamondbacks
     Despite solid pitching by Katherine Scimia, a double play by Kristina Sosnowski and a two-RBI double by Paige Pautler, the Diamondbacks lost 14-6 to the Rangers in a well-played game.

     The Amherst Lightning White 16U travel softball team won the Bagsai BC Classic ASA Invitational tournament on June 9-10 in Binghamton, N.Y.

     ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN - Rob Eimer, a senior at Williamsville North High School, has been selected as an Academic All-American in lacrosse for the 2006 season. A captain and three year starter in goal for the Spartans, Eimer was runner up Western New York Goalie of the Year. He was also a first team Section A, team MVP and selected to the senior all-star game. Eimer, ranked eighth in his class, is a Scholar-Athlete in football, hockey and lacrosse. Eimer will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall and is enrolled in the aerospace engineering program.
