Calls of man, dog stuck on roof reported (Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.) Monday, May 29 + A motorist on Transit Road reported that he struck a cat that ran into traffic and didn't know if it was dead or alive - or still in the area. The complainant said he was continuing home. A dog was left in a vehicle with a window only slightly open and with no water. The owner reportedly works at Transit Lanes, and the complainant said he does this daily. A passing motorist reported a male fell off his bicycle on Sweet Home Road. It was unknown if the man was injured. Police reported that the man was gone on their arrival. A male was reportedly driving up and down Belvoir Road taking pictures of the complainant's car and house, saying they were involved in an accident. The man and woman inside the vehicle are suspected of harassment. They left in the direction of Sheridan Drive. An animal complaint reported on Le Brun Road said that a dog was on the asphalt roof with no water and unable to get down. The owners brought the dog in when the patrol arrived. Tuesday, May 30 At least four strip steaks were reportedly stolen by a man in his late 20s on Alberta Drive. A Garnet Road resident complained that neighbors were having an open bonfire and shooting off fireworks. She was concerned that her garage was going to go up in flames. Handcuffs were found in a driveway on Four Seasons Way. Police determined they were toy cuffs and disposed of them. A Garland Drive resident reported that he gave a 20-year-old male money for gas, and the man never returned to pay him back. The resident was concerned that he may have been scammed. A box containing 50 cell phones was taken from a business on Wehrle Drive. Reckless operation of a vehicle was reported on Tonawanda Creek Road. A female was observed driving while talking on a cell phone and writing. Wednesday, May 31 A store on North Bailey Avenue reported that nine males were harassing people, and when they were asked to leave, they started to unplug machines. A West Summerset Lane resident reported a larceny. Clothes, jewelry and food were taken. A baby was locked inside a van at a store on Sheridan Drive. The mother was with store security, and the baby was crying. The door was unlocked, and the baby was OK. A tarp tied to several fences caused a neighbor dispute on North Cayuga Road. One party was afraid to ask the other party to untie the tarp. Thursday, June 1 Police responded to a welfare check on Main Street where a woman was unconscious and then awoke and started running to her car to drive away. A man was trying to keep her from driving. The intoxicated female was picked up by a responsible friend. Harassment was reported on Main Street when a pedestrian spit on a car after it turned the corner at a high rate of speed. The passenger of the car then got out and chased and beat the pedestrian. No serious injuries were reported. A Hopkins Road man said his ladder fell down and he was stuck on the roof, and his 8-month-old daughter is in a stroller in the yard. All were OK. A dark green Jeep reportedly hit several mailboxes on Sweet Home Road and continued down the road. Friday, June 2 An assault report on West Summerset Lane resulted in all parties apologizing to each other. A hang-up 911 call was placed from a Robin Road house. A child answered on call back and refused to give the parent the phone. Everything was OK, and the parents denied that the child would play with the phone. A Maple Road store employee reported finding a bag of marijuana in the cash register. Saturday, June 3 A man chased an individual who was speeding down his street, and trapped him. The two were about to fight on Sheridan Drive. A complainant reported two men were in the creek washing themselves near Main Street. A customer became very irate at a Sheridan Drive restaurant after the reservations did not work out. Refusing to leave for management, the suspect was gone prior to patrol arrival. A group of youths were made to clean up the mess they made by shooting paint balls at street signs on Lorfield Drive. Sunday, June 4 Thirty-five hundred dollars was taken from an unlocked desk drawer at a Transit Road business. Store security on Niagara Falls Boulevard spoke with a customer who found a shopping cart full of cell phones in bags. A pool and phone lines were damaged on Main Street. The 16-year-old suspect was in custody. Criminal mischief was reported on Hopkins Road involving an 11-year-old child shooting water into passing vehicles. A Grandview Drive resident reported that the neighbor's children threw bricks in the complainant's pool overnight. Another neighbor's fence was also reportedly damaged weeks ago by the youths. A child called and reported that his dog had been hit by a vehicle on Miller Road. The dog suffered a broken leg and was transported to an emergency clinic by the owner. Monday, June 5 A complainant reported seeing three kids climbing up pipes and onto a Main Street building's roof. Two vicious black dogs were reported out and about on Briar Row. The dogs had already cornered and killed a cat. A Rinewalt Street resident reported a dead squirrel on the sidewalk, and every time the complainant tried to move the carcass, another squirrel, which was guarding the dead animal, became very aggressive. |
