Tyno leads Major Red Sox to win over Dodgers

The Red Sox's Jake Tyno not only pitched a complete game but went 4 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs and drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth to beat the Dodgers, 5-4.

With runners on first and second in the bottom of the sixth, Tyno drove the pitch into deep right center field. Sam Kielar showed his excellent base running skills by rounding third and beating the throw to home plate for the game winning run.

The Red Sox defense stepped up with some key plays to help Tyno earn the victory. Connor Miller made the play of the game with a great catch in center field, then placed a perfect throw to Mark Lumadue at home plate. who put the tag on what would have been the go ahead run.

Mike Biggane went 2 for 2 with an RBI and one run scored. Mark Lumadue continued his hit streak, batting 1 for 3. Mike Valenti added another RBI and Tyler Mesi also scored. Ryan Biggane went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Billy Stephan went 1 for 4 and also scored a run. Alex Kosmowski, Miller and Valenti contributed to the effort with solid defensive plays. Dodger pitchers Don Battista and Ryan Christopher pitched very well. Battista also scored twice for the Dodgers.

Red Sox 13, Athletics 11

Mike Biggane hit for the cycle, including a three-run home run over the left field fence to lead the Red Sox to an exciting 13-11 win over the Athletics. Biggane recorded seven RBIs in the game.

Tyler Mesi, Sam Kielar and Connor Miller each added a base hit and a run scored. Alex Kosmowski singled in the third inning and drove in two runs. Billy Stephan went 2 for 4 with a triple and four runs scored. Jake Tyno went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Ryan Biggane doubled to deep left field and added a run scored. The Red Sox were able to hold off a strong A's offense with solid defensive plays turned in by Mark Lumadue, Mesi, Biggane and Kielar.

The high scoring A's offense was led by Ian Snyder, Nick Beresford, Matt Daddario, Brandon Bork and Sam Cumbo. Mike Biggane pitched strong in relief for the Sox, striking out seven batters over the final three.

Yankees 6, Mets 0

The Yankees' defense really helped out the pitching in this one.

Billy Hyland had two great catches and Anthony Migliore added one on a tough play at second base. Adam Harding, in his first inning behind the plate this season, grabbed a passed ball and raced back to tag the runner trying to score from third base. Also from the catcher position, Jake Logiudice hustled out to make a fine play on a speedy runners bunt attempt. But the one that made the highlight reel was Ryan Allen's

shoestring catch in left field on a sizzling line drive by Jonathan Chatelle.

Offensively for the Yankees, Tommy Styn continued his hot streak at the plate and powered the offense with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. T.J. Serba and Jeremy Young each had a pair of singles. Jake and his brother Chris Logiudice each had singles as well.

The Mets got hits from Matthew Haller and Brian Toole. Taylor Kacz pitched four strong innings for the Mets, allowing just two runs on five hits without walking a batter. Chatelle finished off the final two innings for the Mets and struck out five. Billy Milbrand and Nick Tagliarino had strong defensive games for the Mets.

AAA

Dodgers 14, Astros 1

Dodgers pitchers gave up only three hits en route to their first win of the season.

Patrick Bouchane gave up a hit in the second inning then Bouchane and Joey Matyjasik held the Astros hitless until the last inning when Joey Mirando singled and later scored for the Astros.

Jack Jubert led the Dodgers' offense, who had three hits and scored three times, James Abbarno, who reached base three times and Tim Lock, who scored twice and was strong defensively. Other Dodger standouts were Devon Taggart, Zach Kerkeslager, Max Cool and Zach Scamacca. Jake Cohen earned a game ball for his strong defense.

'A' Baseball

Cardinals 7, Astros 3 The Cardinals opened week two with a 7-3 victory over the Astros.

The Cardinals' Kyle Ciehomski, Jeffrey Landberg and Trevor Pray combined for 18 strikeouts.

Charlie Naughton and Kenny Basinski each recorded six strikeouts while Steve Tirone led all batters with two singles for the Astros.

Minor Softball

Riptide 9, Heat-7

On May 9, The Riptide earned their first win. Great batting by Alicia Pooley and the hustle of pitcher Hannah Gordon helped lead the team to its first victory. The team worked as a whole and won as a team.

The team Heat played awesome and supplied great effort.

Riptide 14, Bandits 9

The Bandits are tremendous competitors and played hard against the Riptides on Saturday, May 13.

Big hits from the Riptides' Alicia Pooley, Kayla Hutchinson, Kelsey Gangi, and Jacqueline Bouchane helped the team get the win. The Riptide played great defense.
