Bank robbery suspect arrested
New York State Police arrested a suspect Monday in the robberies of several area banks.
Troopers said a security guard at the Citibank Administrative Office on Lawrence Bell Drive, Amherst, reported a suspicious person at the facility at about 11:30 a.m. The guard said the suspect matched the description of a subject wanted for numerous area bank robberies.
Amherst Police immediately issued an alert for the suspect and his vehicle.
Trooper Christopher Rodler located and stopped the suspect driving on Transit Road in Clarence. He was operating a blue Oldsmobile bearing Florida registration, which also fit the description of a vehicle involved in the robberies.
Jerome T. Ware, 31, of 331 Forest Ave., Buffalo, was taken into custody for parole violation and forgery charges filed in New Jersey. He is being held without bail at the Erie County Holding Center.
