Ann H. Marranca, partnered racing, trucking company
Ann H. Marranca, 61, of West Amherst, a partner of J&A Racing and J&A Trucking, died Friday, March 17, 2006, in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, Mass., she was a graduate of Cardinal Mindzenty High School in Dunkirk. (The school is now closed).
Mrs. Marranca was a partner with her husband of 37 years, John F. Sr., of J&A Racing and J&A Trucking prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Marranca was a devout fan of racing and spent many years cheering her husband to victory at Lancaster and Holland National Speedways.
During the off season, Mrs. Marranca enjoyed NASCAR, NHRA, and IHRA national races and was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Mrs. Marranca was an avid lover of nature and fought passionately against the proposed "bait and shoot" of Amherst deer. She along with her husband were interviewed by a local news station in the early 1990s concerning this long standing controversy.
Mrs. Marranca had quiet interests that included reading, classic movies, and spending time with her cherished grandsons.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Marranca is survived by a daughter, Penny A. Klein; a son, John F. Jr.; two sisters, Lorraine Roth of Holland, N.Y. and Eileen Narraway of Cayahoga Falls, Ohio; also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were held at 8:45 a.m., Wednesday from Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive (corner of Hopkins) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Christopher's Church at 9:30 a.m.
