Mustard-filled mailbox concerns resident

Amherst Police

Wednesday, Dec.28

• A Skylark Court resident reported their house was egged over night. Eggs were thrown at the window and front door.

• Police responded to the I-290 on-ramp at Millersport Highway to help two teenagers who were slightly intoxicated. Teens were seen walking on the on-ramp.

• An American Campus Drive resident reported that a suspicious man had been at their door but was no longer there. Caller sounded confused. Turned out the be the apartment complex's maintenance man.

• A Wood Acres Drive resident reported that someone had filled their mailbox with mustard overnight.

Thursday, Dec. 29

• Someone called police to report that a passenger in a red Jeep was mooning traffic as the car went down Sheridan Drive.

• A Skinnerville Road resident reported that their upstairs neighbor was playing their television too loudly.

• A South Forest Road resident reported that someone rang their doorbell at about 5 a.m. They did not answer the door, but wanted police to know in case it was happening to other people.

• A Washington Highway resident called police to report they saw a “rumpled” looking man walk up their neighbor's driveway and jump over the fence to get into the backyard. Ended up being a television cable crew stringing new wires.

Friday, Dec. 30

• A Covent Garden Lane resident reported that two car loads of youths were yelling, screaming, and “peeing” in front of their house.

• A Mount Vernon Road resident called police to say an older man in a dark coat was going through their garbage.

• A driver on Brompton Road reported that construction crews were leaving large amounts of mud on the road.

• An Autumnview Road resident called to report they think their cleaning lady stole a necklace and some money from the home.

Saturday, Dec. 31

• A driver on Sweet Home Road reported that some youths were throwing snowballs at cars from a wooded area.

• A Berehaven Drive resident called to report that a visitor wanted to bring a dog into their home, but caller did not want dog in their house.

• A driver on Millersport Highway reported that an orange sedan was driving on the wrong side of the road.

• A Millersport Highway resident called to report that a strange man approached the home and asked them for a ride to Buffalo.

Sunday, Jan. 1

• A Main Street resident reported that some youths were running in the street and putting paper all over the road.

• An East Amherst resident reported that their car was taken while they were eating at a Main Street restaurant. Car was later returned by person who took it.

• A clerk at a Main Street gas station/convenience store reported that a man who was drunk was trying to buy beer for some underage youths. Clerk said the man would not leave the store.

• Police were called to a Main Street restaurant for a call that someone had damaged the windshield wiper controller on a patron's car.

Monday, Jan. 2

• A Hidden Ridge resident reported that two deer were in the backyard standing by the sliding glass door. Caller was worried the deer would try to enter their home.

• The manager of a Transit Road fast food restaurant reported that a man was yelling and swearing at customers inside. The manager said the man had been going in and out of the store all day. Less than an hour later, the worker called back to report that "the creepy guy" was back.

• A Huxley Drive resident reported having rats in their front and side yards.

• A Main Street resident reported that a man was asking to come into their house to look for property supposedly left by his daughter.
