Snyder firefighters were called to a home at
299 Frankhauser
Road
at 11:22 Sunday night for a report
of a house fire. The resident reported he was asleep but was awakened by a
noise and found the house on fire. He escaped through the rear of the
house with a pet dog. Upon arrival within four minutes, firefighters found
flames had already extended through the roof. Snyder Chief Tom Merrill
said the cause of the $120,000 blaze was the disposal of fireplace ashes in a
plastic garbage can left in the breezeway of the home. The Getzville Fire
Company responded with a Firefighter Assist and Search
Team.
