John C. Stefano, former John and Mary’s owner
      John C. Stefano, former owner of two John and Mary’s Restaurants, died suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Harris Hill Nursing Facility. He was 85. Mr. Stefano opened John and Mary’s at 2363 Millersport Highway, Getzville, with his wife, Jean, in 1971. In 1978, they purchased another John and Mary’s location in Lockport.

V. Roger Lalli, watercolorist, Amherst teacher
     V. Roger Lalli, 88, of Eggertsville, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in South Buffalo, Dr. Lalli was a renowned watercolorist. He was a graduate of the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy and earned multiple degrees in secondary education, including a doctorate from Commonwealth University in Los Angeles.

Peter F. Potenza, optician, graduate of Amherst High School
      Peter F. Potenza, a native of Snyder, died suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 81. Mr. Potenza graduated from Amherst High School in 1946 and earned a degree from the Erie County Technical Institute in 1949. He was a member of the first graduating class of Dispensing Opticians at the Institute.
